The GDC agreed in December 2005 to the principle of the establishment of a Specialist List in Special Care Dentistry (SCD). The Council Meeting of 3rd and 4th September 2008 agreed to the setting up of a speciality in Special Care Dentistry, from 1st October 2008.

The two year transitional period for joining the List on the basis of existing specialist training, qualifications and experience between 1 October 2008 and 30 September 2010 has now closed.

The GDC has published the training curriculum for Special Care Dentistry.

Trainees in Special Care Dentistry

The BSDH Executive Committee supports Trainees in SCD by co-opting a StR Representative onto its Executive Committee. There are also opportunities to present at Scientific Meetings and support to present at an IADH Congress.
